It seems to me though that blogging is not about making money, it's about passion and voice. Rather like the people in Speakers Corner (this is not only metaphorical but also a place on the corner of Hyde Park in London where, on Sunday Mornings, you can go and say whatever you want although normally bereft of religious sanity).

The money making seems to be a double edged sword. On the positive side, the more money that goes into blogging, the better the servers, site development, features, power, etc. On the contrary, the more involved businesses become, so the more valuable (or at least the perceived return) comes on the information displayed and the users. This means more ads, more trackers, more publicity (could also be a positive point) and the more biased information.

As people become more money orientated so there passions will be influenced over what they say. Enrique is obviously one of the honest ones and is a recognised academic with intelligent thoughts and posts. This cannot be said for everyone else even without the lure of money skewing the model.

As a further point, the biggest e-business (by genre) I would think is porn. Blogging seems to be about anyone providing their views on anything. What then becomes of the younger bloggers looking for information. Will we be having to register to certain blogs if they are carrying certain ads or content?

Blogging to me seems to be about freedom of speech away from official regulation. AS such, the Blogosphere tries to self regulate by links and comments. The more money that comes in to the 'Sphere may well propagate the need for more regulation. However, is this not going against the grain of blogging leading eventually to a blogging vicious spiral. If blogging is about giving a voice to the unheard, is it fair if the voice is sponsored. When seeing a popular golfer in an interview sporting a Nike cap, can you take his (or her) views seriously about the product or during the Second World War, could the views of the Resistance movement have been taken so seriously of the Vichy government sponsored the printing?

Really interesting what for hardware already exists for Skype. I assume that is one of the key successfactor for Skype beeing more successful in the private and business market. As not everybody wants to carry around a laptop each and everywhere a more smooth hardware integration is essential. Especially the tool for redirecting Skype to your Cellphone sounds exciting.
